Drew Barrymore’s acting career started even earlier in her life, at only 11 months old. While auditioning for a dog food commercial, she was nipped by a dog. However, the young Barrymore laughed instead of crying, a surprising response that earned her the job. She debuted in the film Altered States a few years later, but her role in E.T. as Gertie propelled her to worldwide stardom.

After E.T., the young actress made further investments in the film industry when she was cast in Stephen King’s movie adaptation of Firestarter. She continued to work through the ’80s, and today, she is one of the most influential figures in the movie industry.
