David Bowie

David Bowie was an English singer-songwriter who made popular music for almost 50 years. He was best known for writing innovative and experimental music that was both commercially and critically successful. Selling more than 100 million records, Bowie is considered one of the world’s most influential rock artists. During his lifetime, he launched a total of 27 studio albums.

Bowie achieved his first major crossover success in the mid-’70s with the number-one single Fame, and the smash hit album Young Americans. He also began appearing on the big screen in the feature film The Man Who Fell to Earth, which was a modest box-office success. The hitmaker went on to release numerous popular singles, including Under Pressure with Queen, Modern Love, and Space Oddity. In 2006, he was given praise and credit through a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for being a major figure in the world of music.
