Richard Gere

Richard Gere started his acting career in the ’70s and is widely recognized for his performance in such films as Chicago, Pretty Woman, and An Officer and a Gentleman. He has received multiple Golden Globe and SAG award nominations, among other acting honors. In his early days, Gere emerged as an up-and-coming actor in plays both on and off-Broadway. He started his professional acting work in 1969 at Cape Cod’s Provincetown Playhouse and the Seattle Repertory Theatre.

Since then, Gere has been hailed as a versatile actor who has been regarded as one of Tinseltown’s most bankable leading men. The actor was born in Philadelphia to a father who works as an insurance agent, and a housewife. He then attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst to study philosophy. While in school, he excelled at music, trumpet, and gymnastics. In fact, he got accepted into college because of his gymnastics scholarship.
